Doctors never prescribe addictive medications. Everyone knows that isn’t true, right?
Doctors prescribe what they believe are the best medications that will treat their patients’ ailments. Unfortunately, even the best medicines aren’t 100% risk-free.
What about medications that treat one of the most commonly diagnosed disorders in children and adults?
Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is so common today most of us not only know someone with it, we have someone in our own family who has been diagnosed. It’s treated with medication, but that medication can be highly addictive.
Concerta is one of those medications. If you know someone who you think is abusing or addicted to Concerta, they need Concerta treatment.
We’ve put together a guide to treatment options so that you can help yourself or a loved one choose the best treatment program.
Read the guide carefully. You could save the life of someone you love.
Concerta Inpatient
Inpatient treatment programs take place in a residential treatment center where clients receive one-on-one care and additional treatment programs and services.
What Is Inpatient Treatment?
Inpatient treatment is intense and designed for treatment of serious addictions. Patients stay at the treatment facility 24/7.
Treatment usually includes medically-assisted detox. Patients participate in both group and individual therapy. If the patient has a family, they may be included in some therapy sessions.
Education about addiction is a component of any treatment program. If a person doesn’t gain an understanding of their addiction, they have a high chance of relapsing.
Entering inpatient treatment means a strong commitment to detox and the first stages of recovery. Patients are 100% focused on getting well. The absence of the distractions of daily living is what makes inpatient successful.
Standard Length of Concerta Inpatient Treatment
Most inpatient treatment programs last a minimum of 28 days. Some treatment programs last 60 to 90 days. The severity of the addiction combined with the patient’s response to treatment determines the length of stay.
Insurance is another factor. Some insurance providers have a strict limit on the number of days they’ll cover. Insurance and payment are topics normally discussed during a patient’s intake appointment.
Concerta Outpatient
Outpatient treatment programs often offer the same services as inpatients programs. But, they take place on a part-time basis. It’s an option when cost is an issue or insurance doesn’t cover the entire cost of inpatient treatment.
What Is Outpatient Treatment?
During outpatient treatment, the patient lives at home and goes to the treatment facility during the day. Sessions usually take place either during early morning hours or in the late evening. This allows patients with jobs to continue working or going to school.
Outpatient is best-suited for patients with mild addictions. They allow patients a more normal daily routine.
There isn’t much disruption to their lives and they have access to friends and family. Most programs require attendance for 10-12 hours each week.
Like inpatient Concerta treatment, patients attend sessions where they learn about drug abuse and addiction. They also participate in individual and group counseling.
For some patients, outpatient treatment takes place after inpatient treatment is complete. For others, outpatient is sufficient for a successful beginning to recovery.
Standard Length of Concerta Outpatient Treatment
Each individual has unique treatment needs and therefore, the time spent n treatment may not be the same for everyone. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), says both inpatient and outpatient treatment programs should last at least 90 days.
The length of outpatient treatment uses many of the same factors that determine inpatient treatment length.
The staff at the treatment facility work with each patient and determine a treatment plan tailored to their unique situation. Drug addiction doesn’t happen overnight. Recovery doesn’t either.
Concerta Sober Living
Transitioning back to life after treatment can be a challenge — especially if a recovering addict only has the option of returning to an unhealthy living situation. Sober living homes offer a safe solution for those making the transition back to normal life.
What Is Concerta Sober Living?
Sometimes called a half-way house, a sober living home is a safe living environment for patients who’ve completed inpatient and/or outpatient Concerta treatment.
Family issues and stressful home living situations are common components of addiction. Returning to an unhealthy or chaotic environment isn’t helpful for a person new to recovery. Moving back too soon to an area where it’s easy to get drugs can cause a relapse.
Concerta sober living allows a patient time to get used to drug-free living before returning to a normal environment.
What to Expect
Residents of sober living homes live by a set of rules and guidelines designed for supporting sobriety.
Residents usually have chores that must do every day. They’ll also have a curfew. Most sober living homes require signing out when a resident leaves and signing in upon return.
Like inpatient and outpatient treatment, sober living utilizes therapy. But, it’s usually in the form of group meetings.
Living in a sober home is an excellent opportunity for recovering addicts to adjust to sobriety. They’ll also gain a sense of responsibility and accountability before returning to their daily lives.
Ongoing Recovery
Completing a treatment program is the first step to recovering from Concerta addiction.
Past theories about drug treatment viewed a person as “cured” after attending drug rehab. That’s not the case today. While short-term rehab programs are important, addicts should explore long-term treatment options.
Long-term treatment may include individual, family, and group therapy.
There are a number of 12-step programs available to recovering addicts. Staff at treatment facilities and sober living homes can refer patients to long-term treatment options.
